Lulu Hypermarket signs MoU with UAE Ministry of Environment and Water to support local farmers

Lulu Hypermarket signed an MoU with Ministry of Environment and Water during the inaugural ceremony of organic food festival ‘Go Organic with Lulu’ held at Lulu Hypermarket, Barsha, Dubai. The MoU was signed by Eng. Majd Al Herbawi, Director of Animal Health & Development Department, Agricultural & Animal Affairs Sector, Ministry of Environment & Water, and Mr. Salim M.A., Director, Lulu Group. According to the keenness of the two parties to strengthen their mutual strategic partnership, and in coordination of efforts to support the local farmers working in the agricultural field, it was essential to promote this sector by providing a platform to sell their organic agricultural products and hydroponic products, which may reflect the health of the society and to ensure a sustainable environment for the life of current and future generations. Mr. Salim M.A. said, “The certified organic produce from the UAE will be placed prominently in their own dedicated space in the outlets of Lulu across UAE. A lot of people were not aware of local organic options; they were used to imported produce. Availability was a key factor, so we said why don’t we give them a platform to promote those products. Lulu has been selling organic products for a long time now. But from now on, we will be selling the largest range of certified organic produce through all our stores.”
